BERLIN, Md. – The Parents and Community for Justice in Education, or PCJE, are raising concerns about the establishment of a Turning Point USA chapter at Stephen Decatur High School.

Member of the group, Dr. William Johnson, said the move would create division at the school. “They’re using the momentum that was created around Charlie Kirk, and his death, the controversy that he has spewed to formulate this group at this time.”

Following Charlie Kirk’s assassination that stunned America, unity is emerging, potentially at Stephen Decatur High School. They are looking to create a chapter called Club America.

Worcester County released a statement saying, in part, quote: “As part of our commitment to providing a safe – inclusive – and enriching environment for all students, Worcester County Public Schools recognizes that a student(s) may express an interest in starting a club/organization within their school, including those with religious or political affiliations.”

Katie Addis, a member of the Worcester County Board of Education, announced a call for support on social media. Stating quote:
“A teacher has stepped up to be the advisor of the newly formed group TPUSA high school chapter at Stephen Decatur. Pray for this group as they navigate this new experience.”

WMDT reached out to Addis, but she could not be reached for comment. – Dr. Johnson fears the group would create

“If this is something they push over the line, then they are telling us that they don’t really care. As a district, they don’t really care about all children.”

Turning Point USA has been actively establishing chapters in high schools across the country.

Worcester County Public Schools says requests like Club America arise, the school will apply the same existing guidelines before a club/organization is recognized officially by the school.
