Easton Preparing for Main Street MD Conference
(EASTON, Md) – This week, Main Street representatives from every city across the state of Maryland will come together at the Waterfowl Building in Easton, as they take part in the Main Street Maryland Conference.
The event started last year in Frederick.
Easton won the bid to host the second iteration.
Easton Economic Development Director, Holly DeKarske calls it an exciting opportunity to meet with other Main Streets.
Holly says, “So like they’re actually here to talk through those solutions and maybe even learn something. So you know what, we’ve had an issue and you did this. It seemed successful. How did you do it? So it’s a huge, big deal to be able to get to talk to your other mainstream managers and learn from them.”
Different Main Street programs set up throughout Monday.
“There is a lot of bouncing of ideas, sharing creative projects and programs and learning from not only local communities, but we have speakers in from all across the nation…” says Main Street Maryland’s Christine McPherson.
And getting to share those ideas and bring them back to their respective communities is what this conference is all about.
Christine says, “As part of this Main Street America’s leadership, it’s important for us to get together as a state.”
“It is one of my favorite tools for economic and community development and the fact that we’re allowed to host it here in our incredible downtown. It’s a big deal,” says Holly.
The Main Street Conference will run Tuesday through Wednesday.
