UPDATE: Crisfield road repavement project put on hold

Back in March, the city of Crisfield  were in the midst of discussing a proposed street repavement project for the city.

The plan was to repave 8 to 10 streets that city officials deemed high priority, but in order to for that, Crisfield City manager Rick Pollitt tell us they would have to take out a $500,000 loan. City council held a budget vote last week and Pollitt tells us the repavement project did not pass because the mayor thought it would be  unwise to bring that type of spending commitment to the city at this time. The city will instead part of that money to reallocate it to the city’s police department.

“We do not plan on abandoning the project. The streets in Crisfield are in dire need of repair. As you know we are an economically depressed community. We don’t talk about economic recovery yet in Crisfield. But we need everyone to know are a very high priority,” says Pollitt.

Pollitt tells us city officials do plan on reviving the idea in the future, but no timeline has been set yet.
