Jimmy Charles host meet & greet ahead of Country Calling this weekend

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Country Calling is back again. With the festival approaching, organizers continue to prepare in the popular resort town.

Headlining acts include Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Luke Combs.

On Thursday, Jimmy Charles, an Ocean City native, held a meet-and-greet for fans to kick off the weekend. “It’s an exciting week. Country Calling, another one, is upon us,” he said.

Country music will take over the Ocean City inlet, with more than 25 artists performing on three different stages. Charles said he hosted the meetup to give fans an inside look before things officially begin.

“It’s for some old fans and new fans. Get a chance to meet some new people, and Saturday at 1:15 we are going to be rocking that stage,” Charles said.

Business is expected to pick up in a major way. Ryan Wojcik, who owns Candy Castle on the boardwalk, said he is ready for the increase.

“This festival is real busy. We have the walkway behind the stage for us, so we expect a steady flow of people throughout the weekend,” Wojcik said. “We’re prepared. We’ve got everything prepackaged. We have a ton of drinks ready. We’re ready for everything.”

For Charles, giving back to the community is one of his favorite things to do. He said Ocean City is the perfect town for a concert like this.

“Country music is live in Ocean City, and it’s about to go off the chain this weekend,” Charles said. “It’s love. Love comes this way, and it goes back this way. Just a big circle of love.”
