Delmar little leaguer looking to make it to MLB All-Star Game

On Sunday in Philadelphia one local little leaguer will have the opportunity to slug his way to this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game in San Diego.

If Delmar Little League’s Jaden Shelton is able to take home the top spot in a regional home run derby this weekend, he’ll earn a spot in the national finals during all-star weekend on July 9th.

In addition to the home run derby, Jaden also has the opportunity to head to San Diego through the MLB’s ‘Pitch, Hit and Run’ program.

Last week, he won the competition for his age group at Camden Yards. In order to head out west under that competition, he must finish in the national top three for his age group.

“It feels really good because most people don’t get this opportunity to go and do this kind of stuff.” Said Shelton.

Some other kids in our area also placed in the Baltimore regional ‘Pitch Hit and Run’ competition. Gavin McIntyre of Princess Anne, Md. placed 1st in the 9-10 year-old baseball division, while Macey Masten of Smyrna, Del. placed finished 2nd in the 9-10-year-old softball division.
