37th year of Seagull Century traffic advisory
SALISBURY, Md. — Salisbury University is gearing up for its 37th annual Seagull Century bicycle tour.
Thousands of riders will make their way into town this Saturday in the name of Salisbury University. University spokesperson Jason Rhodes said drivers should watch out for bicyclists, as the event features three different routes that will start early in the morning.
“There are going to be a few streets closed off for portions of the day, including part of Bateman Street. And then as the riders get around to other areas in the tricounty area, you’ll see an uptick in bicycle traffic. We always ask motorists just to be aware and be careful. We usually don’t have many incidents, so we’re happy about that,” Rhodes said.
Riders will leave between 7 and 9 a.m. Saturday, so officials suggest avoiding the university area during that time to steer clear of traffic.
