Local creates petition alleging ‘Deplorable conditions’ at Pemberton Manor

SALISBURY, Md. – A petition is circulating around Pemberton Manor in Salisbury.

Salisbury resident, Demetria Marshall Leonard is alleging deplorable living conditions at Pemberton Manor. She is known for being outspoken in the community on issues that concern housing and tenant rights.

She said she has family that live at Pemberton Manor who claim there are bugs and rodent issues that she said have not been addressed by management.

“I just want them to do their job; it’s roach infested, it’s rat infested, they even have bats,” said Demetria. “They’re hiring anybody to work at these properties, so I just want them to do their job and treat these people right. Their tenants have rights.”

The petition has garnered 36 signatures so far.

In a statement to WMDT, Pemberton Manor addressed Demetria’s allegations saying, “We are proud to provide safe, quality housing for all residents and take their wellbeing very seriously. Our management always seeks to address maintenance needs, and this includes weekly property-wide pest control service.”
