Foodie Friday: Stingray

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – It’s something about a good sushi roll, and an even better setting, that makes WMDT’s Leila Weah happy. Stingray in Rehoboth Beach has both of those things.

The chefs at Stingray aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty to ensure only the freshest ingredients are in each sushi roll, and their nigiri and shichimi.

“I’m going to first be trying this tuna nigiri,” Leila said, using her chopsticks to pick up a piece.

“Very fresh piece of nigiri; two is more than enough pieces of nigiri,” Leila said. “He scooped a little bit of the tuna for me to try, and I was like, that is very, very fresh, very fishy, tuna.”

There’s something special about being able to get creative with dishes. The chefs made their own type of sushi with a twist.

“This bad boy right here, I was amazed when they made this one, because I’ve never had sushi where the rice is fried on the outside,” said Leila. “They have this homemade paste with a jalapeno on top, for the kick.”

“This just brought me to a happy place. I can’t describe it, but it’s so yummy,” she added.

And if course they couldn’t let Leila leave without trying their classic tuna and salmon rolls.

“This is such a beautiful presentation. You can tell that they care, and they take their time when it comes to the plating, because everything is done with intention,” Leila said, admiring the plate. “The aesthetics of it is just gorgeous. I just love it.”

“They’re two rolls that leave you wanting more,” Leila added. “You want to find out, OK, they brought out this, but what else do they have up their sleeve? What else do the chefs have back there?”

You can visit Stingray at 59 Lake Ave Rehoboth Beach, DE. If you visit them make sure you tell them you saw them on Foodie Friday.
