DSP Arrest Man after Crashing Stolen Motorcycle
MILTON, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a man on Monday afternoon following a motorcycle crash after officers learned the bike was stolen.
At approximately 3:17 p.m. on Sept. 22, troopers responded to Issacs Road for a single vehicle motorcycle crash involving a Suzuki GSX-600L.
A preliminary investigation of the crash found that the Suzuki was traveling northbound when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and veered off the roadway. The driver of the Suzuki was identified as 20-year-old Shymier Olden of Milford. Troopers learned that prior to the crash, Olden was driving aggressively, passing on the shoulder, and traveling at a high rate of speed.
A subsequent computer check revealed that the Suzuki was unregistered, uninsured, and reported stolen in 2023.
Olden was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After being released from the hospital, he was arrested on a felony charge of receiving stolen property, in addition to multiple traffic violations. He was later arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
