MSP Recovers Loaded Firearms and Drugs in Easton Traffic Stop
EASTON, Md. – The Maryland State Police recovered two loaded firearms and drugs during a traffic stop in Easton on Saturday.
At approximately 8:01 p.m. on Sept. 20, a trooper conducted a traffic stop on Route 50 near Lomax Street on a Chevrolet pickup truck for suspected impaired driving. During the stop, the trooper reportedly “observed multiple criminal indicators,” before observing two loaded firearms in the vehicle. Police also report recovering suspected methadone and Xanax.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old William Stephen Lanham, Jr. of Salisbury, was arrested on the scene without incident. He was charged on a litany of firearms-related and vehicle-related charges, in addition to possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was transported to the Talbot County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.
An investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
