Cambridge to Sign Letter for Pier Replacement

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Cambridge city officials are discussing an often used community structure.

The City Council is set to hear and sign a letter of support signed by the Dorchester County Council and Cambridge Waterfront Development, regarding a replacement fishing pier.

The new pier would be set along the Cambridge Harbor, where work on the Waterfront Development is progressing.

The previous Bill Burton Fishing Pier along Route 50 was closed in 2021 due to structural problems.

Leaders call this project imperative the entire community.

“Well, I think this is showing a collaborative approach that this this mayor and commissioners, the county council wants to have with everybody, because if we collaborate together, we get things done faster,” says Cambridge City Manager, Glenn Steckman.

The proposed new pier would be planned to extend over 1,000 feet out onto the Choptank River
