Smyrna Police Investigating Shots-Fired Incident

SMYRNA, Del. – The Smyrna Police Department is investigating a shots-fired incident that took place Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2:49 p.m. on Sept. 20, police responded to the 500 block of Barley Court within the Sunnyside Development for a report of a vehicle collision with shots fired. Officers responded to the scene and discovered several unoccupied vehicles that were damaged from the collision.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects approached an individual in their vehicle and brandished a firearm. One of the suspects proceeded to enter the vehicle, and the victim proceeded to flee by driving. The victim struck four additional unoccupied vehicles before coming to a stop. During the course of this incident, the suspect shot one round inside the victim’s vehicle prior to fleeing themselves.
