Rehoboth Beach man charged with felony DUI

A Rehoboth Beach man faces a felony DUI offense after he was arrested Friday night.
Rehoboth Beach Police say they stopped 58-year-old Roberto Alfaro Jr. after he ran a red light on Second Street around 11 p.m. Friday. Police say the officer conducting the stop smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Alfaro’s car. We’re told the officer observed empty beer cans in the back of Alfaro’s car as well.
Police say Alfaro showed additional signs of impairment during a field sobriety test.
According to police, Alfaro is charged with Felony Fourth Offense Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Stop at a Red Light, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, Failure to Have Registration Card in Possession and Failure to Have License in Possession.
We’re told Alfaro was committed to Sussex Correctional on $5,650 cash bond.
