Cambridge Ironman Brings Major Economic Impact
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The thousands of people coming to Cambridge for the Ironman also means a major boost to the local economy.
It’s not just the athletes coming into the heart of Dorchester County, but their families and friends to boot.
And that leads to this event bringing in plenty of tourism dollars.
Local officials say this is a huge opportunity for businesses to see a boost, especially as the summer tourism season comes to an end.
“This is one of the biggest events in Dorchester County throughout the year. These people will come. It’s such a long, such a long race. They need a Sherpa, which is an additional person to help them with all their logistics. So if you take 1500 people and you double that three 4000 people in town, it just blows this place up. They spend their money. We make money, makes everything great,” says Race Director, Brian Snow.
The Ironman has routinely brought in millions in tourism dollars, including over six million in 2023.
