DSP Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Frankford

FRANKFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police (DSP) are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 4:15 p.m.,  a Yamaha motorcycle, and two other mini-motorcycles, were traveling southbound on Camp Barnes Road. A preliminary investigation by police determined that the Yamaha attempted to pass the other two bikes while at a high rate of speed on a double-line. The motorcycle subsequently lost control, exited the west side of the road, and struck a traffic sign, causing the rider to be ejected.

The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man from Millville, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

DSP Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information is asked to contact Senior Corporal J.
