Unattended Candle Causes House Fire in Salisbury

House Fire 2

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Fire Department (SFD) responded to a house fire on Thursday morning.

At approximately 10:28 a.m., firefighters responded to Pine Way after a homeowner reported a fire at their residence. Upon arrival, companies found smoke showing from a one-story, wood-frame dwelling.

Fifteen firefighters were included in efforts to put out the fire. SFD reported that crews coordinated an aggressive interior attack while outside vent work was performed, allowing firefighters to quickly bring the fire under control.

The Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office reported that the preliminary cause of the fire was an unattended candle. However, SFD stated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Resources from the American Red Cross and Wicomico County Schools have been contacted to assist the displaced family.
