Foodie Friday: 302 Acai

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – 302 Acai is a place where deliciousness meets diet.

Owner Matt MacKay has made it his mission to make some of the best acai bowls in the U.S., and he has a motto: No boring bites.

“We’re starting with our acai base; we’re going to put on our 302 granola and add a little honey on it. Then, we’re going to put a fresh banana. There you have it, a 302 Acai bowl with granola, strawberry, banana, honey, and some added Nutella,” said Matt.

But don’t let the name 302 Acai fool you. Matt also knows how to blend up a mean smoothie.

“We start with our coconut base, and this can be turned into a bowl as well, but to make it into a smoothie we put it into the blender. We add some frozen blueberries, a bottle of water, and we get to make some noise on the blender,” said Matt.

Now, it’s time for WMDT’s Leila Weah to try.

“We’re going to start with the bowl; it doesn’t come with Nutella, but I asked Matthew if he could add Nutella because, again, if you guys don’t know by now, [I] have a sweet tooth,” Leila said.

“Matthew was telling me off camera that their mission is to make some of the best acai in the country, but right here, specifically, in Delaware. I think that they are definitely getting the job done with this,” she added.

It’s smoothie time. Leila tried their famous Bethany smoothie.

“If I was going to the gym, and I needed a little pick-me-up after the gym, I would come here to 302 Acai and get the Bethany Smoothie,” Leila said.

So, for all the healthy foodies out there, give 302 Acai a try, and order one of their famous acai bowls. You won’t be disappointed. You can visit them at 19730 Coastal Hwy. If you dine there make sure to tell them you saw them on Foodie Friday.
