Sea Gulls tame Mustangs in shutout victory

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University Field Hockey beat Stevenson 2-0 on Wednesday night at Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury.

Thanks to a number of early saves from Stevenson goalie Jordan Vradenburgh, the teams were locked in a scoreless tie for the majority of the first half. Salisbury finally broke through on a penalty corner on the final play of the second quarter that saw Marli McDormand skip a shot to the far post past Vradenburgh.

The Sea Gulls expanded their 1-0 lead early in the fourth quarter with a goal from Alex Kupper, salting the remainder of the game away with strong possession play.

Salisbury Field Hockey moves to 5-1 with the win. After dropping a tight 3-2 contest on the road at 6th ranked Johns Hopkins, the Seagulls have outscored their opponents 5-0 and will go for their third straight win against 10th ranked Shenandoah University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20 at Sea Gull Stadium.
