Memorial services have been set for a dedicated firefighter who tragically died in a motorcycle crash.

Visitation for Alan Schweitzer, 62, will begin at noon on Wednesday at the St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Laurel. This will be followed by a mass service at 2 p.m.

From there, Schweitzer's family, community members, and fire service will gather for Fireman's Honors at the Laurel Fire Department, according to a post from the Laurel Fire Department.

Schweitzer was an active Ocean City firefighter paramedic and volunteer firefighter with the Laurel Fire Department.

He was appointed as a town councilman for Laurel just days before the crash near East Trap Pond Road and Piney Grove Road in Georgetown.

In a past interview with 47ABC, Laurel Mayor John Shwed described Schweitzer as a " fun-loving, dedicated public servant."

The church is located at 600 South Central Avenue in Laurel, Delaware.
