Queen Annes County High School

CENTREVILLE, Md. – The Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire that broke out at Queen Anne’s High School on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 7:13 p.m., emergency services were contacted following the activation of the school’s fire alarms and sprinkler system in the rear of the building. In total, 36 firefighters responded to the scene, and it took them a little over a half hour to put out the fire.

It is estimated that about $30,000 worth of damage was incurred as a result of the fire. The preliminary cause has been determined as the result of an unspecified electrical event of a power surge protector. No one was charged in relation to this incident.

The school will be closed today to begin clean up to the damaged areas.
