Rescue Fire Company frees trapped driver following accident
CAMBRIDGE, Md. — On Saturday, Aug. 30, Rescue Fire Company and other mutual aid companies were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with reported entrapment. The collision occurred at the intersection of Route 50 and Second Street.
Chief 1-1 arrived on scene to find the two-vehicle collision, with one occupant trapped in the driver’s seat against a guardrail. Rescue 1 arrived and deployed their portable winch to gain access to the driver’s side of the vehicle. Once repositioned, crews from Rescue 1 and Linkwood Fire Company initiated extrication operations, removing the roof and doors to free the trapped occupant.
Following extrication, the patient was transferred to the care of Maryland State Police Aviation Command for transport, and all units cleared without incident.
