Dorchester County Closing out Summer on Docks
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The end of summer means the return of a Dorchester County tradition on the water.
This started Sunday with the Taylor’s Island Boat Docking Competition and will run through the middle of September.
We caught up with the Dorchester County Board of Tourism about the start of these competitions on the water over the next few weekends.
“We have so many people come in for this from out of town. It’s very competitive. And we have some local, watermen and also dockmen that do so much. And ladies, don’t forget, come on out and cheer for them as well, because we have some pretty, pretty talented women as well,” says Dorchester County Tourism Director, Holly Gilpin.
The remaining events are the following:
August 31st: Jon Boat Docking Contest in Secretary, starts at 11 A.M.
September 7th: The Waterman’s Rodeo benefitting the Hopper’s Island Volunteer Fire Company, taking place at P.L. Jones Boat Yard & Marina
