Wor-Wic Community College launches two degrees ahead of new school year
SALISBURY, Md. – Wor-Wic Community College is opening new doors for students with a pair of new degree programs launching this fall: data science and mechatronics engineering.
The data science degree will focus on careers in data analysis, database administration and business intelligence. Students will learn core concepts and use analytics tools to develop models that tackle real-world problems. Dr. Stacey Hall, dean of STEM, calls it a plus in a job market where companies increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making.
“This strategic degree puts students ahead of the curve in a rapidly expanding job market,” Hall says.
The mechatronics engineering program will equip students with programming skills for careers in automation and manufacturing. Students will learn to program and maintain automated machines for industrial use. Joe Roche, head of the applied technology department, says the degree will provide a hiring edge.
“We aim to train students for high-paying jobs between engineers and technicians,” Roche says. “With a high demand for these skills in our area, this degree offers a range of career options to mechatronics graduates.”
