The Mid-Atlantic fishing tournament brings more fun and competition to Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The 34th annual Mid-Atlantic Fishing Tournament has been drawing in community members all week long. Competitors hope to catch a big one.

The tournament is based at Sunset Marina, where choppy waters brought on by Hurricane Erin made for challenging conditions. Tournament Director Rick Weber said the competition was extended another day due to the weather. “We finished with 82 boats out of Ocean City and 114 in the tournament overall. The challenge was determining which days to fish out of the six available.”

Weber praised the Maryland fishing community, which he said is unique. “We have a vibrant offshore fishing fleet, and we’re happy to host it out of Ocean City and Cape May.”
