Trekis McCollough, a junior at Salisbury University and resident at The Ross, said he’s excited to be living downtown. “I’m just excited to be downtown Salisbury. This looks like a nice area, so I can’t wait to be involved a little bit more around here,” McCollough said.

With the fall semester underway, students are moving into off-campus housing. Esperenza Stanley, a community intern and resident, said she’s looking forward to making new friends. “I hope they like us. It’s very exciting. We get to make new relationships with our residents and plan new things for everyone,” Stanley said.

Allie Lane, community manager, said The Ross’s location makes it special. “Not only are we one of the only housing developments located downtown, but we are also within walking distance to local businesses, restaurants, and a lot of local attractions,” Lane said.

Intern Abraham Essien said their goal for Friday was to make the move-in process as smooth as possible. “We’ve closed off parts of Main Street to help with the move-in, so it can go a little bit smoother. We just want to make sure all our residents feel comfortable here,” Essien said.

Christopher Williams, a second year resident, said he appreciates the convenience of the all-inclusive living. “Having everything included, like not having to worry about internet, is really nice. I play video games a lot, so that’s important to me. The parking garage is great, too,” Williams said. He also mentioned Third Friday, an event where vendors sell arts and crafts, as another highlight. “It’s a really great experience, especially if you’re coming here for college and don’t know anyone yet,” he said.

McCollough said he’s already made a friend on day one. “I’ve actually gotten close with someone, just meeting in the elevator and stuff like that. They have a dog, so it’s been really nice.”

Sections of Main Street will remain closed until Monday.
