Dress for Success needs donations

Salisbury, Md. Dress for Success is returning for its fourth year in Wicomico County, and organizers are looking for donations.

The Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children is requesting professional attire. Allysa Gammel, community program coordinator for the partnership, said, “We receive everything from dress shirts, shoes, blazers, belts, you name it, even some jewelry. So it’s a really good opportunity for folks to come through, shop as you would, and collect as much as they possibly can.”

The group is also partnering with Wicomico Goes Purple to observe September as Overdose Awareness Month. The first day of the giveaway will prioritize individuals in recovery, and the second day will be open to everyone. All clothes given away will be free for participants to take and keep.

“The Dress for Success event we actually partner with by coming in purple,” Gammel said. “We do it in the month of September because that’s Overdose Awareness Month. This program is really designed to help folks, prioritizing those who are currently in recovery. We really just want to be able to help and give assistance in getting folks back into the workforce.”

Any leftover clothing after the event will be distributed to rehab and recovery communities. Organizers are accepting donations until September 5.
