Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Dover
DOVER, Del. — A 44-year-old Dover man died Tuesday night after being struck by two vehicles, one of which fled the scene, police said.
The crash occurred around 8:46 p.m. near the intersection of Salisbury Road and Clara Street Extension, according to a statement from the Dover Police Department.
Investigators said the man was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox traveling southbound. A second vehicle also hit the victim and fled without stopping, authorities said.
The man was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus, where he later died from his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
No charges have been filed at this time. Police are still working to identify the second vehicle involved in the crash.
