Is Secretary Jake Day running for Congress?

SALISBURY, Md. — Rumors have been swirling about whether Maryland Housing and Community Development Secretary Jake Day is running for Congress, but he remains focused on his current role.

At the grand opening of TidalHealth’s new clinic, Day said his attention was on the event, and he expressed satisfaction with his current position as the state’s top housing and development official.

“I’m focused on my job. I love my job. I don’t want to do a different job. So this is the one I want and I’ve got it. I’m loving it. I’ve got the best boss in the world, and I think tomorrow the same will be true,” he said.

Day also shared that being able to return home for the clinic’s grand opening was particularly meaningful. Governor Wes Moore praised Day for his dedication to the region, noting that the event marked a long-awaited achievement for Day.

“Really, this is something he has been talking about and trumpeting for so long. So, Secretary Day, congratulations and thank you for never forgetting about where you came from,” Moore said.
