Dennis Thrift Shop to close its doors in September
BISHOPVILLE, Md. – A popular local shop is getting ready to close its doors. Dennis Thrift Shop will only be open for a few more weeks.
The store is known for its various knickknacks, as well as its selection of new and secondhand goods, including furniture.
The store’s owner, Margaret Dennis, tells WMDT it’s been in the community for more than 60 years.
She said it started as a $15-dollar loan turned into one of the most popular destinations in Bishopville.
But now, Margaret is ready to retire and get some much-needed rest. “I think it’s time for me to relax, I’m in a couple women’s clubs, and I think it’s time for me to get out;”I’ve been really successful, my customers have been wonderful to me, I couldn’t ask for no better. It’s been a long 60 years, and I’m very happy with what I’ve done.”
Dennis tells us that the furniture next door will remain open.
