City of Salisbury is in search for an artist

SALISBURY, Md. — City officials are looking for artists to design a concept for a sculpture in city park.

Economic Development Manager Derek Jarman called it a great opportunity for artists in the area to show off their skills and pay homage to their home.

Jarman said, “we’re looking for folks to really construct something that is going to depict, obviously, the city of Salisbury City Park in an inclusive way, in a way that is going to garner a piece that is going to be with us for time in time to come.”

The call for submissions asks for works that center inclusivity. Jarman said public art is part of what makes Salisbury special and any opportunity to add to the collection is an exciting one.

“City Park was one of those locations that from Community engagement, but also from an administration standpoint, we realized that we needed to add a little more flavor over to City Park and add some more art installations there. It’s a beautiful area, so this is definitely going to help beautify it.” he said.

The City of Salisbury is taking applications until September 12th.
