BETHANY BEACH, Del. -Wilgus Associates, Inc. in Bethany Beach, is a company that’s been in business since World War 2. For over half a century, Wilgus Associate, Inc. has been known as Sussex County’s Premier Real Estate and Insurance Agency, and they have expanded their areas of expertise from insurance over the years.
Key to Longevity
Founded in 1945, 4th-generation owner David Wilgus is the grandson of the original owner. “We’ve always worked hard to stay in contact with our customers, to provide them with insurance policies that are good to assist them in their needs.”
He says consistency has kept them in the community. ‘Well, we’ve been in this area a long time, 80 years, and many people have seen our signs, were involved in the community in many aspects… We also have a very good staff at Wilgus Associates. And they work hard to contact our customers and our prospects, get back to them in a very quick manner, and again do things in a very kind fashion, respectable fashion.”
From homes to auto, even property management, for almost a century, Wilgus has been doing it all. “Most folks, when they come to the beach, they want to have a boat, or a jet ski, or there are a lot of campers in the area. Motorcycles, you know, that gets going in the spring. Cars you got Hot Ride Week and Motorcycle week down in Ocean City, Maryland… So, you can do an awful lot of things at Wilgus Associates.”
80 Years Strong
Secretary and Part-owner David says there’s is a reason they’ve been around for so long. “We can sell you a house, we can rent your house, we can manage your house, and we can insure your house, and there’s no other business in the area that can do all of those things at one location. We have a great staff, many of them have been with us for many years, and we work hard to please the people, our customers.”
