Delaware holds on to beat Asia-Pacific, finish pool play undefeated

ROXANA, Del. – Delaware beat Asia-Pacific 3-2 to finish pool play 4-0 at the Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana on Thursday.

Delaware struck first in the top of the second, with Adrianna Heck scoring on an error on a fielder’s choice hit by Adeline Lutz. Next, Karly Kruger ripped an RBI single to right field, scoring Taylor Lowe to make it 3-0. Kamara Harris walked on four pitches to load the bases, then Cierra Lewis fouled off seven before drawing another walk to bring home Lutz. Delaware led 3-0 after the second inning.

Asia-Pacific would find their offense in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double from Erica Arnaiz scoring Audrie Sarsona

Asia-Pacific brought the game down to the wire in the bottom of the 7th. A sac fly from Daniela Bejos scored Ashley Ortiz to make it 3-2 with two outs.

Trailing by one and down to their last out with runners on second and third, Audrie Sarsona hit a ground ball through the infield that hit the Asia-Pacific baserunner, recording the final out and sealing the win for Delaware.

Delaware finishes as the 1-seed in Pool A. They will play the 4-seed in the first elimination game at 8 p.m. on Friday at Lower Sussex Little League.
