Del. State Police arrest Georgetown man on multiple charges

MILLSBORO, Del. – A Georgetown man is behind bars on multiple charges after he was found in possession of heroin.

At around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, while at the Wawa in Millsboro, troopers observed a man they knew was wanted out of Sussex County. Contact was made with the man, identified as 33-year-old Toby Smokovich, who resisted arrest and reportedly damaged a salad display case while struggling with troopers.

Once troopers took Smokovich into custody, they found heroin in his possession, and learned that he tried to discard 36 small bundles of heroin (approximately .252 grams) on the floor when he saw police. It was also reported that two of the bundles he threw hit a child who was in the store. The child was not injured.

Smokovich was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $4,002 secured bond.
