Tax return deductions you may be unknowingly entitled to

When it comes to filing your taxes, there may be a few deductions you may be unknowingly entitled to.
The federal deadline to file a 2016 income tax return and pay off any taxes is Tuesday, April 18.
J.D. Schroen, a partner with CFS Retirement and Tax Solutions, says charitable contributions can be written off for some taxpayers. People who work for charitable groups can deduct their mileage for driving to help out the organization.
Schroen tells 47ABC, depending on certain situations, you can add money to a retirement plan between January 1 and April 15 and get a tax deduction for the previous year.
He adds every write off is case by case.
"There are certain expenses that a lot of people came in the office saying, oh I've got these expenses for my business for work. In theory a lot of these expenses are deductible; however, a lot of times they have to reach a threshold before most people can deductible," says Schroen.
