Cause of fire on park basketball court under investigation

Early Friday morning, the Grasonville Fire Department says they responded to a report of a fire on a park basketball court.
According to the report, a person passing by noticed the flames, and called it in. Officials say that the court is on Perry’s Corner Road, and is owned by the Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation Department.
It reportedly took 5 firefighters about 10 minutes to control the blaze, and there was a loss of about $5,000 in damages.
Although officials do say that the area of origin for the flames was the basketball court, the preliminary cause is still unknown.
There were no injuries reported in this incident.
