Del. man sentenced to 20 years for kidnapping and assault of elderly couple
GEORGETOWN, Del. – A Millsboro man has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for kidnapping and assaulting an elderly couple back in 2018.
In July of that year, 30-year-old Steven Snell went to a home on Cornwall Road in Rehoboth Beach asking to use the phone. Once he got inside, Snell then threatened the couple with a box cutter, forced them into his car, and drove to an ATM where he took money from their account.
He pleaded guilty to first degree kidnapping, two counts of first degree robbery, home invasion, second degree assault, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony back in August.
Snell was sentenced to a total of 20 years, followed by one year of work release, then two years of probation. The work release and probation will include GPS monitoring.
