Dover Police say they are investigating a hit and run that happened Tuesday morning on Kenton Road.

Police responded shortly after 11:30 AM to the area of Kenton Road just north of College Road where they found a vehicle had struck a tree.

An investigation revealed that someone driving an older black SUV, believed to be a GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Blazer, reportedly tailgated the victim's vehicle, then attempted to pass over the double yellow lines. While passing the victim's vehicle, the suspect SUV sideswiped the victim's SUV, forcing the victim off of the roadway and into the tree, police said.

The suspect driver continued northbound on Kenton Road and fled the scene. The victim driver was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where she was later released.

Police say the suspect driver is described as a heavy-set white male with a goatee. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact Dover Police at 302-736-7130 or Crime Solvers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
