UPDATE: Police rule death investigation as ‘murder-suicide’, investigation continues

A death investigation in Dover involving a husband and wife is now being called a case of murder-suicide, according to state police.
The couple has been identified as 36-year-old Pierre Rubens Volcy and 25-year-old Wislene Volcy Deborne.
Corporal Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police says Volcy was struck and killed by a car early Monday. This was after he reportedly walked into its path on Route 13.
Dover Police confirm the driver involved in the pedestrian crash has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
We’re told Volcy’s car was later found parked at a Wendy’s restaurant with its engine running. When Dover Police went to notify Volcy’s wife at their home in Alder Park Apartments, we’re told authorities found her dead. She was reportedly suffering from an “obvious injury” near her torso.
“Right now, the evidence does point to the fact that the male subject murdered the female subject,” says Corporal Fournier.
Corporal Fournier also says detectives are confident the male occupant who was reportedly home at the time authorities arrived is not a suspect. While he could not go into too many details, Corporal Fournier says there’s enough evidence to believe Volcy was responsible for his wife’s death.
“Just because of the evidence that was located at the scene, as well as the apartment complex and what I mean by the scene, is the traffic crash with the pedestrian and the scene at the actual residence,” he explains.
47ABC spoke to one neighbor on Tuesday. While she did not want to be identified, she tells us she’s been living in the neighborhood for about a year and half.
The neighbor we spoke to says she didn’t know the couple; however, she was home Monday morning after police made the discovery of Deborne’s body.
“Police everywhere…everywhere,” she says. “Forensic people…I mean, detectives, they walked around and talked to people, you know what I’m saying?”
Authorities say the motive for Deborne’s death remains unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
“All the police got to do is keep doing what they’re doing, you know? Keep their presence present,” says the neighbor.
The couple’s two year old son was also home when authorities arrived Monday. Police say he was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. He was not injured and has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Family Services.
Anyone with information on the investigation is urged to contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. They can also contact Detective Mark Csapo at 302-698-8427.
