Maryland Coastal Bays Program announces new 10-year comprehensive plan to protect local bays

DELAMRVA. – The Maryland Coastal Bays Program has signed a new 10-year agreement with partners and officials. The agreement aims to protect and restore the coastal bays in Worcester County and surrounding areas.

The plan specifically focuses on issues such as erosion, island configurations, and environmental health. It includes bays such as Assawoman, Newport, and Chincoteague.

Maryland Coastal Bays Foundation President, Steven Taylor, said the plan is evaluated annually.

“Each year, we review our accomplishments and the associated outcomes. We also produce an annual report card that reflects the health of the bays.”
