Dover Man Arrested in Smyrna Assault, Kidnapping Investigation
SMYRNA, Del. — A Dover man has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping and assault that occurred in late June, according to the Smyrna Police Department.
Dallas Drummond, 45, was taken into custody on July 1 following an investigation into allegations made by a female victim. Police say the woman reported that she had been kidnapped and assaulted by Drummond on the morning of June 24. She was able to fight him off and escape from a residence, despite sustaining physical injuries.
Smyrna detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Drummond later that day. With help from the Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police, and Delaware Probation and Parole, authorities located and arrested him in the 5500 block of South Dupont Highway in Dover.
Drummond was arraigned by video in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to the Department of Corrections on $280,000 cash bail. He faces multiple charges related to the incident.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
