Confirmed tornado struck Omar Delaware Monday night

Omar, Del. – A confirmed tornado hit Omar, Delaware, Monday night, just outside of Dagsboro.

According to WMDT’s Storm Team, reports of damage were on a small scale, with tree damage and mailboxes being ripped apart.

Chief Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek said the tornado would likely be rated as an EF-0.

Sussex County resident Michael Marvel said he and his wife were looking to pick up plants for a mulch bed when the storm rolled through, forcing them to change their plans.

“We were headed down to a new place we had never been before in Dagsboro off of Omar road. And it was pretty bad weather, the storm was brewing pretty good, a lot of rain, lightning, thunder, and I looked out at the passenger side window and there it was.”
