Seaford Mayor Announces “Trevor Young Day”
SEAFORD, De – The City of Seaford is highlighting a Grammy-winning local.
Trevor Young from the Eastern Shore, grew up in Seaford and worked in a local music store. In 2022, he received one of the music industry’s greatest honors when he took home the Grammy for “Best Reggae Album.”
Today, Mayor Matt MacCoy declared June 20th, “Trevor Young Day” as a way to honor the young artist and express the city’s pride in his accomplishments. This is the first time that the city has bestowed such an honor. The Mayor shared how he grew up in the area with Young, saying he could not be more deserving.
“I can’t think of a better person to start it off than Trevor,” said Mayor MacCoy. “A local guy who made it big. He is a worldwide traveler now, but Seaford has always been his home.”
The ceremony took place earlier today at Gateway Park in Seaford. One highlight of the event was a $3,000 check granted to the Seaford Music and Education Institute.
