Fager’s Island in Ocean City Celebrates 50th Anniversary
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Fager’s Island Restaurant and Bar is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary.
This beloved establishment is marking this milestone by looking back on how far they have come. Owner and founder, John Fager, came to the shore from Baltimore back in the ’70s and purchased the two-acre property.
His original plan was to build town homes on the island. Shortly after the housing market crashed, he decided to pivot and open up a small pub. Fager’s Island has now become a staple for food, drinks, and music.
Fager reflects on the past 50 years fondly, saying his success with Fager’s Island is nothing short of a dream come true. He said, “I came with nothing, I was able to get ahold of this piece of land, and build it small to start, and sort of thrive in this community and that’s what America is all about. It’s basically the American Dream in a sense.”
He is holding a celebration Monday with free admission and live music until 1 a.m.
