OCEAN CITY, Md. — An Ocean City councilman is apologizing after an alleged incident with a lifeguard at Montego Bay.

Larry Yates is accused of threatening the lifeguard after becoming upset over a pool rule.

Witnesses told WMDT he was aggressive and used profanity.

In a statement, Yates offered a sincere apology for his actions.

“I want to sincerely apologize for my behavior during a recent incident at a private community pool. Out of concern for safety, I confronted a lifeguard who was not enforcing the community pool rules. In doing so, I let my frustration get the better of me, and I regret the way I handled the situation. I have great respect for public safety personnel, including lifeguards, and I’m committed to learning from this experience.”
