Teacher Makes a Difference: Delmar Elementary

May 2025

WICOMICO COUNTY, MD – May’s Teacher Makes a Difference, WMDT surprised a 3rd-grade teacher at Delmar Elementary School.

Jasmine Horsey has been teaching for the past three years and was nominated by her student’s teacher Katelyn Russ. She says despite Mrs. Horsey being a full-time teacher, parent, and wife, with a part-time job, she also found time to help tutor her child in math, and she’s now excelling.

Jasmine was shocked to be nominated as she says loves watching kids grow. “I just noticed some of my students struggling so I felt like it was perfect timing to give them extra activities to see if they can improve on their scores… I love the school because it’s actually my home school. I went here. So, I love that I was able to come back, I was ready to come back here and just show my town how grateful I am to teach all the kids around here.”

The Teacher Who Makes a Difference award is brought to you in part by Pam Price and Associates. Jasmine says her favorite subject is also math, and it’s an honor for her to help students daily, we surprised her with goodies, flowers, and a certificate.
