Single vehicle crash claims life of Dover man

DOVER, Del. – Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Dover man Monday night.

Shortly before 11 p.m., Dover Police responded to a call that a car had hit a utility pole/transformer in the 600 block of North DuPont Highway. At the scene, officers found a 2003 Toyota Camry that had hit the pole and caught fire.

The Dover Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire and eventually extricate the victim, a 22-year-old Dover man. The man died as a result of his injuries.

Police say whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash remains under investigation. The victim was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
