Crisfield Police Department gets new AED
CRISFIELD, Md. – The Crisfield Police Department has received a new automated external defibrillator – or AED.
AEDs are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
The Crisfield Police Department petitioned the American Legion Post #16 for the device and the post provided the funds for the department to obtain the AED that’s now stored in-house.
“It’s a device all our officers are trained on, they receive training in the academy and I’ve also sent training to them as well and, as I said before, it’s a device that a layman can use, it’s fantastic in the field and with the number of senior citizens that we have in our city, they greatly appreciate it as well,” said Chief Eric Lee of the Crisfield Police Department.
Chief Lee says he hopes to outfit every single one of his officers with one in their police cruisers in the near future.
