Bishopville woman charged with murder in homicide investigation

BISHOPVILLE, Md. – A Worcester County woman is behind bars after a man was reportedly found dead Monday night at a home in Worcester County.

According to Maryland State Police, troopers were called to a home in the 12000 block of Shell Mill Road in Bishopville just before 9:30 p.m., after receiving a call from a woman stating that her boyfriend had been shot. On arrival, troopers met with the woman, identified as 61-year-old Bonnie Hackendorn, inside of the home, and found the victim, identified as 57-year-old David Shaulis, lying on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound. Shaulis was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

Investigators with the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation, and based on information and evidence collected at the scene, Hackendorn was arrested and charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, and other related firearm charges.

Hackendorn is being held without bond at the Worcester County Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
