Community Players of Salisbury preview “World War II: Heroes of the Eastern Shore” documentary show

MARYLAND – The Community Players of Salisbury are preparing to present a documentary entitled “World War II: Heroes of the Eastern Shore.”

This show will be shown across Delmarva, and includes narration, dramatic readings, slides, and music from a live band, all while honoring the men and women of the Shore who served our country, at home and overseas.

CPS’s Matt Bogdan stopped by Good Morning Delmarva to talk more about this unique show.

Inspiration

“What inspired me was, when I met this band- they were called the WW2’s. And they played locally; they played down in Snow Hill for instance. And I met them when I was doing a show “The Harlem Rennaissance”, and when I heard they played this WWII music, I said this would be a great idea for a show.”

Research

“One important book that I used was from Sylvia Bradley, who wrote about a lot of the Wicomico County men and women who were in WWII…. There’s so many, that was the tricky part. You know, who do you leave out, who do you put in? So, I recognize over 50 men and women for the show, which runs about an hour and a half and 2 acts.”

Experience

“I hope they get a sense that they, or we had around us and have around us, still do- people who just love our country, who would do anything for us. They made the final sacrifice for us, many of them did. Secondly, we don’t want to ever wind up having WWIII.”
