MD Supreme Wins 2nd Straight Title

The Maryland Supreme team comprised of Stephen Decatur players won it’s second straight Maryland Supreme League title Friday night when they defeated team Glen Riddle out of Wi-Hi 51-49. MD Supreme got the go-ahead bucket with 1.2 seconds left from Keyon Voyles, and survived a scare from Glen Riddle as they missed a lay in at the buzzer to tie.

The teams were in a battle throughout the first half. Keve Aluma would dominate the paint for MD Supreme, getting nearly every rebound and put backs underneath. But eventually, Glen Riddle would start to dictate the pace, getting out in transition and connecting on their long balls. Davonta Dixon was able to get to the rack for a few baskets, while Matt Lowe finished a few underneath. Glen Riddle would take a slim 25-23 lead into the break.

Kevin Voyles and Kevon Voyles would both begin to get hot from the outside as they brought their team back. Then with under 2 minutes to play, MD Supreme would tie the game up off a three pointer from Mike Beja. With the game tied late, Glen Riddle would turn over the ball and :20 seconds left. MD Supreme would isolate Kevon at the top of the arc, and he would get to the basket for the go-ahead score. Glen Riddle would connect on a full court pass to set up Lowe for the game tying lay in, but he left it just short as it fell off the rim as time expired.

In the semifinal games earlier in the night, MD Supreme topped Hard Work 53-45, while Glen Riddle topped Hill Top 45-39.
